Flea and Tick Prevention

It's that time of year again! Flea and tick season begins in spring  and can last through at least November. Fleas and ticks are wingless insects that feed on the blood of animals. Fleas do not usually jump from to pet. Once eggs are laid, they will fall from the animal and onto the carpet. When they hatch, other pets will become infested. Therefore, it is essential that you treat your entire household for fleas should an infestation occur.

The best way to control flea problems is to prevent them from happening. Rockbrook Animal Clinic recommends applying Frontline to your animal monthly. Frontline can be purchased at our clinic and the prices vary based on your pet's weight. The medication is very easy to apply. Simply part the hair between the shoulder blades of your cat or dog and apply the vial directly to the skin. No baths should be given 2 days before or following this application. Frontline lasts up to 4 weeks and guarantees to start killing fleas and ticks on contact, as well as help to eliminate infestations.

Rockbrook Animal Clinic recommends applying Frontline to all cats and dogs that may live in your home. Even if your cat is an indoor cat, fleas can still be brought into the home by yourself or other pets. Your cat may then become infested with fleas as well.

We often have various specials regarding Frontline. Please contact us at (402) 397-2424 if you are in need of Frontline or have any other questions regarding fleas and ticks.
